Cookley Village Fayre & Dog Show 2021 – A Day To Remember

Sunday 5th September. A day to remember. So beautifully blessed with hot sunny weather, it seemed as if the whole of Cookley had turned out for a fun filled, well over- due family day out ! We raised so much money for local charities….

Round The Wall Race 
A tradition for Cookley- 3.4 miles was covered by running, or walking, or limping! It was won by Matthew Nichols in 21 minutes, the fastest female was Amanda Sherrard in 26 mins. The fastest male veteran was Kevin Draper, and fastest female was Ellen Wood. All proceeds of the race goes to Dementia Action Alliance, A grand total of £225!.

Afternoon Tea in The Village Hall 
A welcomed cool venue out of the burning sun. Service of tea, coffee and cake raised a massive £270 which into the Children’s Play Area Funds.

Wizard of Oz Fancy Dress Parade
Started at The Bull in Cookley and marched to the field, not a Cairn terrier in sight!

Produce Fayre
A bit of fun- beautiful displays, raised £45 towards Children’s Play Area Funds.

Grand opening of Renovated Teenage Shelter, by the BMX track
Also a collection in memory of Dom Fox (Papyrus Charity) for Teenage Mental Health.

Cookley Crafter Stalls
A row of talented people offering their stunning crafts to buy .This raised £150.00 for Play Area Funds.

Dog Show and Animal related stalls
A huge amount of our fur babies in all shapes and sizes turned up, How can we choose a winner? Thanks to Blissgate Display Team demonstrating heelwork to music to launch the show. Special thanks to Mary, her daughter Rebecca, and Mary’s husband Tony (representing Sirius Star Animal Rescue) for once again running the classes.

The total from Sirius Star for their charity was £919, and with the rest of the proceeds (stalls, raffle tombola etc) going to High Hope Dog Rescue, gave us a massive overall total of £1.565.70 !!!!

The Cookley Fayre, which is in its 3rd year, is lovely idea of Sharon Gellatly .
Amanda Huxtable, Tina Milward Jones, Jane Hunt and, me, Julie Farmer, are ” The Team”.
